Session Description: There’s a stigma surrounding senior centers. When most people think of them, they imagine old people playing sedate games and talking about their aches and pains. However, today’s senior centers are fun, vibrant places where you can participate in a variety of activities. While the purpose of senior centers is to help older adults remain active and engaged, especially those who are aging in place, there’s so much more to know about them. This session will explore the role senior centers take place in healthy aging, the many generations utilizing senior centers, and adapting programming to meet the needs of current and future generations.
Learning Objectives:
Upon completion, participants will be able to understand the role senior centers take in advancing health and current trends that are affecting senior centers
Upon completion, participants will have the knowledge to implement programming that is inclusive of all ages of older adults in their community.
Upon completion, participants will be able to take at least 1 new idea to add to their programming schedule.
