Session Description: In May of 2023 I experienced the last day of my life, and I lived to talk about it. This is a story of how direct access to an automatic external defibrillator (AED) can save a life. Though the county park had an AED on site it was locked in a building not accessible to the ones who needed it. Does this sound familiar? Where are your AEDs located? Are they accessible after business hours? What if I told you there is a proven way to store AEDs, so the public has access 24 hours a day, yet they are still secure against weather and theft?
Learning Objectives:
Upon completion, participants will understand the importance of AEDs in the parks.
Upon completion participants will understand how secure public access to AEDs can be a part of their parks.
Participants will understand why CPR and AEDs are necessary both in parks and around the athletic fields.
