Tired of your programs and services being first on the chopping block during hard times? Many parks and recreation departments are highly dependent on their agency's General Fund, making them vulnerable to its expansions and contractions. Learn how the City of Watsonville Parks and Community Services Department has reduced its reliance on the General Fund through policies, partnerships and local tax measures. This session will cover the process of building momentum for and the process of initiating and successfully passing a local tax measure to sustainably fund parks and recreation programs, services and facilities.
Learning Objectives:
Upon completion, participants will be able to identify at least two revenue/funding sources applicable to public agencies other than general fund subsidy and program revenues.
