Dr. Schwab is a Professor in the Experience Industry Management Department. She completed her MS and PhD at the University of Utah, where she also worked in afterschool recreation, and as a grant-writer for a youth-focused non-profit. Dr. Schwab has presented many times locally, state-wide, nationally, and internationally. Her research focuses on user experiences in parks, recreation, and tourism, and community parks and recreation motivation, participation, benefits, and barriers. She teaches classes on Experience Design foundational frameworks, and a class on intro to event planning in community parks and recreation sites. Dr. Schwab has co-authored books on Learn by Doing, careers in parks, recreation, and tourism, and has published research in community and event motivation, participation, and benefits. In 2023, she was awarded the CPRS Outstanding Research Award for her dedication to research on community parks and recreation benefits and engagement.
