The topic of "belonging" is becoming increasingly popular in the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion field. "Belonging" describes values and practices where no person is left out of our circle of concern. Belonging means more than having just access, being seen or feeling included. This session will be a deep dive into the concept of belonging including the significance of authenticity, agency, psychological safety and power. Discover the ways in which you can create a culture of belonging in the teams you work with.
Learning Objectives:
Understand the history behind the concept of belonging including the evolution of the definition.
Understand how power, agency, authenticity, psychological safety, bridging vs. breaking and co-creation are significant pieces to successfully creating a culture of belonging.
Participants will develop the outline of a plan of action, to begin work towards creating a culture of belonging in their work place or enhancing a culture of belonging that already exists.
