Melanie has 17 years of experience in recreation, with a deep commitment to community resilience. As the Emergency Management Coordinator for the City of Los Angeles, she leads mass care and sheltering efforts, including opening cooling centers during heatwaves and Augmented Winter Shelters for the unhoused during colder months. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Melanie provided critical response in first aid and shower service support to the unhoused.
