Dr. Ye (Sandy) Shen is an Assistant Professor in the Experience Industry Management Department at California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo. She completed her PhD in Management at the University of Guelph and received her master's degree in urban and regional planning at Peking University. She also studied hotel and tourism management at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University. Dr. Shen is a leading researcher in tourism experience design, destination marketing, and technology applications in tourism and hospitality. Her multidisciplinary approach allows her to bridge the gap between theoretical research and practical implementation, making her work influential both in academia and industry practice.
Dr. Shen’s expertise includes the analysis of consumer behavior using cutting-edge technologies, the design of memorable and immersive customer experiences, and the advancement of sustainable tourism development. She has pioneered the use of eye-tracking technology and skin conductance sensors to optimize the design of signage and marketing videos, significantly enhancing their effectiveness and impact. Her research has been published in top-tier academic journals, such as Tourism Management, International Journal of Hospitality Management, Journal of Hospitality & Tourism Research, and Journal of Destination Marketing and Management.
