Peter Mayfield, Mountain Guide, Social Entrepreneur, and Mental Health Rehabilitation Specialist. He is the founder and Director of Strategic Expansion of Gateway Mountain Center, and the Founder and Principal at Therapeutic Nature Solutions. He has enjoyed a 40-year career guiding people into mountain experiences / environments and successfully innovating as an entrepreneur in embodied peak experience. He has traversed a trajectory from world-class climber, to Chief Guide of the Yosemite Mountaineering School, to founder of CityRock – the first full service climbing gym in the world.

Gateway Mountain Center offers innovative nature-based programming in youth development, environmental literacy, social and emotional education, and mental health treatment. Serving over 30,000 youth has informed Peter in developing a Method: “Four Roots for Growing a Human”.

Today, Peter is passionate about changing the system of care for youth in treatment for serious emotional disturbance and in recovery from complex trauma. Gateway's program – "Whole Hearts, Minds & Bodies" is the first Nature-Based, therapeutic program to achieve full service partner contracts with County Behavioral Health Departments and Certification as a Medi-Cal provider and has just opened a branch in San Francisco. Peter through his Therapeutic Nature Solutions, has the goal of spreading nature-based therapeutic programs and landscape designs to many more cities.
