Director, Community Relations
Golden State Warriors
Claudia Leist is in her seventh season with Golden State and first as the Director of Community Relations where she leads community programming efforts in the education, community health and wellness, economic development, and civic engagement spaces. In her role, Leist also oversees all player engagement for corporate and community efforts, as well as ensuring alignment with larger NBA and player-driven initiatives.
Leist began her journey with Golden State as a summer intern for the Community Relations department, and over the years has grown in responsibility and scope to lead a team dedicated to executing all community programming on behalf of the organization.
In 2023, Leist led efforts to jumpstart the organization's involvement with the Twinning Project at CA State Prison Solano in partnership with Positive Coaching Alliance and the CA Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation. Golden State is the first NBA team to engage in a program of this scope, and Leist is helping lead conversations to encourage other teams in the league to invest in the space as well.
Beyond her work at Golden State, Leist serves on the board for Hoops4Hayastan, a non-profit organization with the goal of bringing the youth of Armenia access to basketball equipment, training, and resources.
A Bay Area native, Leist graduated from the University of San Francisco with a B.A. in Communication Studies and an M.A. in Sport Management.
