Community Outreach Worker
City of Costa Mesa Senior Center
Costa Mesa, California
My name is Lucy Tseng and I am the Community Outreach Worker with City of Costa Mesa Senior Center. I have a bachelor’s degree in psychology from University of California, Irvine and a master’s degree in social work from Washington University in St. Louis. I have been a Licensed Clinical Social Worker since 2017.
I have been in the social work profession for twenty-five years, almost twenty of these years working with older adults. I started working at the Costa Mesa Senior Center October of 2022. Prior to coming to Costa Mesa Senior Center, I worked for City of Irvine Senior Services for ten years. My first work experience with older adults was in a community adult day healthcare center. While working at the adult day healthcare center, I became familiar with some of the common struggles seniors would experience. I noticed older adults have various issues that need to be addressed, however, many of them do not have the support they need to get connected to services and resources. Since then, it has been my passion to support older adults by advocating for them. My role at the senior center is to empower seniors and their support persons with knowledge of pertinent services/resources in the community that can help address unmet needs seniors often have.
I feel very blessed being able to do what I love in the social work profession. Through my work at the senior center, it has been a pleasure meeting the senior center patrons and learn about their diverse background.
